Grandona Legion Survey - Results

The following is an overview of the compiled results from our public survey that was completed this past May. We truly feel the survey was very successful and would like to thank the people who took the time to share their opinion with us. It was done in a very sincere, open, and constructive manner and with a mindset for improving our community and local Legion. So here it is in a nutshell:

- Who Participated in the survey? The majority of the respondents lived within 25 Km of the legion and were over the age of 50, non-member, finds out what is happening at the Legion from the Legion Newsletter and goes out occasionally.

- Legion Bar Hours: Legion bar hours are sufficient.

- Friday's: The majority of the respondents indicated that Friday Supper meals were nutritious, good portion size, ceilidh start and end at appropriate times, people go for supper regardless of the entertainment, and there was a split on where or not to have ceilidhs during the winter months.

- Saturday's: There was an indication that if there was entertainment with paid admission on Saturday evening most people would go.

- Prices: There was support to increase prices at the bar and supper by a moderate amount. This will be reviewed by the Executive and communication will be done in advance of any price increases.

- Winter months: A STRONG indication was not to close because of the community spirit that is experienced during our long and cold winters.

- Volunteering: We would like to thank the people who raised their hands to help out. We will be in touch shortly. Also, a few people offered and forgot to include their contact information. So if you did and you don't hear from us, just let us know.

- Suggestions: Many great suggestions were offered. We believe the best way to communicate these are to summarize in the newsletter over time.

- What We Do Well: The responses were overwhelming and a true indication of the dedication, commitment, and pride of our volunteers, Executive, and our employees. They are the backbone of our operation.

In closing, we are committed to forming an action plan to address the suggestion we have received and implement the changes over time as money and time permit. The areas identified of interest are:
Facility upgrade; Entertainment improvements with paid admission outside of Friday night ceilidhs; Policy and procedures on social nights; Improvements to Friday Night supper format/menu; Bar enhancements; Possibility of debt machine; Family events.
So folks, stay tuned!!! Please feel free to talk to us about the survey if you feel something has been omitted or not acted on.

To quote one of our respondents in the survey,
"Nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something"

Lest We Forget

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
